Picture in Time: Blackpool OMO 11, Glasgow 1297 & Coronation 660

Today as we continue our Picture in Time series we have a photo that really makes you want to find a time machine and travel back in time to experience what is going in person!

This photo was taken during centenary year – 1985 – and seems to have been taken from the top deck of another tram at North Pier showing three very different trams all in action on the Blackpool Tramway. On the left in the foreground we find OMO 11 in the Red and White livery heading southbound (presumably through to Starr Gate but it was at a time when the rear destination blind was kept blank). The OMO still retains a trolley (a pantograph was to follow at the end of the year) and has roof height adverts.

11 is immediately following loanee tram Glasgow 1297 (loaned from Crich for the Centenary celebrations) which is also heading south whilst coming north is Coronation 660, apparently on a Promenade Tour. The more eagle eyed amongst you may also notice Bolton 66 in the distance closer to Tower.
