Manx Electric Railway 125th Anniversary: Day 1 – Saturday 1st September

After the build-up of the past year we are finally here – it’s the week-long events to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the Manx Electric Railway! As a quick one stop guide each evening (at roughly 2100 each night) we will be bringing you a brief recap of what is scheduled to take place the next day including our “Pick of the Day”. With the event kicking off tomorrow here is the preview for Day 1 – Saturday 1st September.

Pick of the Day

Parallel Run

The oldest electric trams in the world still in regular operation on their original line – 1 and 2 – will perform a parallel run between Derby Castle and Groudle (the original 1893 terminus). Departs Derby Castle at 0900.

Best of the Rest

Oldest and Newest trams on timetabled services

1 and 2 from 1893 and 32 and 33 from 1906 will be allocated to service running as follows:

1 departs Derby Castle at 1110 and 1340

2 departs Derby Castle at 1010, 1310 and 1440

32 departs Derby Castle at 0910, 1040, 1410 and 1540

33 departs Derby Castle at 0940 and 1240

Motorman Taster Lessons

Your chance to drive Winter Saloon 22 between Laxey and Lewaigue. Departs Laxey at 1050, 1250 and 1450.

Timetable DG is scheduled to be in operation throughout this day.

All the above events may be subject to change in cases of tram availability and weather. Pre-booking was required for several of the above events and availability on the day may not be possible, please check on the day to avoid disappointment.
