Picture in Time: Bolton 66

We go back a long time in history for this edition of Picture in Time as we see Bolton 66 well before it was restored into an operational tram.

The year is 1949 and 66 wasn’t actually the focus of the photographers attention as by this time the lower saloon of the tram was in use as a holiday home, as so many trams ended their days in the post tram era. In front of the tram body can be seen two members of the Crompton family playing probably not realising – or caring – that a little over 30 years later their holiday home would be running in Blackpool!
