DLR temporarily reduce capacity on Tower Gateway to Beckton service

Passengers who travel on the Docklands Light Railway between Tower Gateway and Beckton have been warned that for the next 2-3 months there will be reduced capacity on the line because of “a vital piece of machinery specific to maintaining DLR trains recently required major refurbishment”.

The absence of this piece of machinery has had an impact on the maintenance schedule which has led to fewer trains being available for service. Rather than cancel services the decision has been taken to reduce the number of trains used on individual services (presumably two trains instead of three are in use at most times)

DLR hope that the next few weeks will see a continued improvement of the availability of trains with a full service resumed by the end of May. Engineering teams are working 24 hours a day to maintain the trains during this period.
