Picture in Time: Luas 3018

Our modern image from the archives today comes from the Irish capital with a photo taken in 2007 on Luas.

This view shows 3018 at Tallaght about to depart for Connolly on 14th July 2007. This is a service on the Red Line. The ‘3000’ class trams were built by Alstom in time for the opening of the line and were initially three section vehicles for use on the Red line, however, from 2007 into 2008 two extra sections were fitted to bring them up to 40 metres in length; the same of the ‘4000’ class used on the Green line.
