Award for defibrillator installation on Edinburgh Trams

Edinburgh Trams’ scheme to install defibrillators on all trams has been recognised at the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Awards. Edinburgh became one of the first UK tram systems to have complete coverage of their trams thanks to a pioneering partnership with St John Scotland in 2017, who are also continuing to ensure there is coverage at other key locations in the city as well.

Lea Harrison, Edinburgh Trams Managing Director, said: “We’re delighted at this high-profile recognition from the business community for an initiative that has the potential to save many lives. Thanks to the tram, many of the city’s key locations are now just a few minutes away from the arrival of a vital medical device, and this award will raise awareness of the on-board defibrillators as well as recognising our own commitment to the welfare of customers and the communities we serve.”

As well as being awarded the Excellence in Health and Safety accolade Lea Harrison was nominated for Director of the Year and Sarah Singh, Service Delivery Manager, was Highly Commended in the Young Leader category.
