British Trams Online at 15 – Tram Loans: London County Council 106

The very first short-term tram loan at the East Anglia Transport Museum, London County Council 106 made the trip from Crich in July 2016 to play its part at a special London Event at Carlton Colville.

Having only returned to service in 2015 after workshop attention London County Council 106 was to make the trip to the East Anglia Transport Museum to allow them to form a complete London tram and trolleybus service with London Transport 1858 already resident there. Departing from Crich and arriving at Carlton Colville on Sunday 3rd July with testing and commissioning following during the week. 106 then entered service on Saturday 9th July and was used throughout that and the following day before being prepared for a return to the East Midlands. It duly went home on Tuesday 12th July.

On one of its first trips at Carlton Colville 106 heads away from Chapel Road.

106 turns towards the woods.

And then into the woods and we see 106 again. (All Photographs by Gareth Prior)
