Bus hits tram in Dublin

Eight people were injured when a tour bus hit a Luas tram in Dublin City Centre on Friday 28th October. The circumstances surrounding the collision are not yet known but three investigations are now reported to be underway to find out what happened.

The collision happened at approximately 1100 near Lincoln Lane in Smithfield and caused all services on the Red line between The Point and Blackhorse to be suspended until 1230.

Eight people were injured with four of these needing hospital treatment including the tram driver. Photos from the scene show that the side of the tram was struck by the bus with a number of windows being smashed in the collision.

Transdev (operators of Luas), the Garda and the Railway Accident Investigation Unit are all now carrying out separate investigations into the collision.
