Picture in Time: Midland Metro 15

Today Picture in Time travels to the West Midlands for a couple of images of Midland Metro’s T69 15 during the testing and commissioning period in early 1999.

15 was one of two of the trams to arrive at Wednesbury on 11th November 1998 (14 being the other) and was the last delivery for four months with the last of the trams (which had been added later to the original order) not arriving until the following March. 15 always ran in the original Red, Purple, Green and Grey livery and received the name Agenoria in December 2005. The tram became the sixth of the T69s to be withdrawn from service when it was taken out of service in September 2014 and didn’t hang around too long at the depot before it embarked on a road journey for storage at Long Marston on 15th October 2014.

These two photographs were taken on 23rd February 1999 and despite no external numbers been carried show 15 during the testing period (the line opened to the public on 31st May 1999) at Priestfield. In the second photo a second unidentified T69 is also being used for testing.
