Enhanced Supertram service for Tour de France

For the first time the Tour de France will start in Yorkshire (yes we know its not exactly in France but never mind!) and on Sunday 6th July it will pass directly through Sheffield before ending at the Motorpoint Arena. Supertram services will not be affected by any road closures and a revised service will operate for anyone wishing to view for the cycle race.

Throughout Sunday 6th July the following service will operate:

Yellow route: Middlewood-Meadhowhall – every 8 minutes

Blue route: Halfway-City Centre-Meadowhall – every 16 minutes

Purple route: Herdings Park-Malin Bridge – every 30 minutes

As most of the action is taking place towards Meadowhall this section of tramway has been enhanced with trams expected to run every 4-5 minutes between the city centre and Meadowhall. Unfortunately this does mean that Malin Bridge’s service is affected with only a half hourly service in operation and this will run to Herdings Park instead of Halfway.

Special tram only day tickets will also be available for use on Sunday 6th July only priced £3 for adults and £1.50 for children. There is also a Family Weekend Tram Day Ticket for £18 and a Family Tram Day Ticket for £9 which must be purchased in advance.

There will also be a few stop closures during the day with Carbrook closed all day and Attercliffe and Valley Centertainment due to be closed after the days events end.

Will I be able to get from Sheffield University to Meadowhall on the tram, and how frequently will trams be running on this route?
