Another bridge named in Nottingham

Following on from the naming of the Nottingham Express Transit Phase Two bridge over the railway station as the Karlsruhe Friendship Bridge it has been announced that a second iconic bridge is to be named. A steel bowstring bridge which crosses the city’s Ring Road was named the Ningbo Friendship Bridge at a ceremony on 11th June to cement the special relationship between Nottingham and Ningbo in China.

The bridge was named at a special ceremony on 11th June attended by the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Cllr Ian Malcolm and the Vice Mayor of Ningbo, Mr Zhang Minhua. As well as cementing the relationship between the two cities it also coincides with the 10th anniversary celebrations of the opening of The University of Nottingham’s campus in Ningbo which was the first foreign independent university campus established in China.
