Nottinghamshire resident concessionary pass holders to enjoy even better discounts on NET

Concessionary pass holders from Nottinghamshire will be able to enjoy better discounts on board Nottingham Express Transit from 1st April with the previous restriction between 1600 and 1800 on weekdays being relaxed. Previously concessionary pass holders had to pay half fare between 1600 and 1800 on Mondays to Fridays but as from 1st April no fare will be payable. They will still not be able to be used before 0930.

Jamie Swift, NET Marketing Manager, said: “As we approach the introduction of new ticketing arrangements, including the use of new ticket vending machines and validators, we wanted to simplify the system for people who travel on the tram using a Nottinghamshire County concessionary bus/tram pass. This is the first of several positive changes that all our customers will see over the coming months. In addition to the new ticket vending machines, the new ticketing system will also enable them to use MANGO smartcards which offer 25% off adult single fares.”

Nottingham City Council concessionary pass holders already enjoy free travel on NET between 0930 and 2300 on weekdays so this extension for Nottinghamshire County Council pass holders brings both passes to the same restrictions.

As currently, no concessionary passes from any other local authority will be valid for discounted travel on Nottingham Express Transit.

  1. It’s to be exactly the same with Edinburgh Trams once they commence operation in May. Concessionary fares will be restricted to Edinburgh residents only.
