As we come towards the end of the school summer holidays, the family orientated events at the Crich Tramway Village are still happening regularly with two more to come before the end of month. The Bank Holiday weekend will be the perfect opportunity to go down to the woods as the popular Teddy Bears’ Picnic returns, and then just a week later its Pirate Day!
On Sunday 24th and Monday 25th August children are being encouraged to bring their own teddies along and if they do they can receive a badge! There will also be an amazing Teddy Bear Trail along the woodland walk.
Children visiting will also be able to get creative and make teddy bear masks whilst for a small charge you can have a go on the Vintage Penny Arcade. Amy Zing will provide interactive picnic shows and there will be music from the 1950s and 1960s by Rocks and Frocks for the adults.
Candi Bell, Events Manager, said: “This event is enjoyed by adults as well as children as they recognise the puns and the hard work which has gone into producing the teddy bear displays. Our life size Mr Bear will be making regular appearances and will provide a great photo opportunity.”
Then on Sunday 31st August it will be Pirate Day. This will give you the chance to sing-a-long with sea shanties with the Jolly Jack Tars, join Pirate School and learn how to speak like a pirate, and for the young at heart to make their own pirate hats.
There will be four performances of “A Pirate’s Life for Me”, providing dramatic pirate fun with Notice this Notice Theatre Company. This 20-minute show tells the tales of pirate princesses and the forgotten sirens of the sea.
You can also follow Captain Crich’s Treasure Trail to try and find pirate treasure as well as meeting the live parrots with Woodies Wings.
Trams will, of course, be running at both events, and admission is included in the price of the annual return tickets.
