As we go “Out and About” again we feature some odds and ends from the West Midlands Metro in early June 2025.

We start off this pictorial look at the West Midlands Metro at Wednesbury Parkway where we see Urbos3 37 pausing at the extra platform whilst in use on driver training. This is one of the many of the original batch of CAF trams which has spent periods out of use and this was during its latest return to action. It retains its Ozzy Osbourne names.

50 was a tram which spent around eight months out of service after it was hit by a car in Wolverhampton, causing one end of the tram to come off the rails and significant damage which needed repairs at the depot. It was finally back in service at the start of June and is seen here on its first day back out with passengers as it pauses at Bilston Central with a service which is definitely not going to Wolverhampton Station as that’s the other way!

We are then at Priestfield for this final image as 37 features again on its way back towards Wednesbury. As it pauses here its joined by fellow Urbos3, 34 which is heading to Wolverhampton Station with a normal timetabled service. The number of Urbos3s in service each day can vary and on this day 34 was just one of two out. (All Photographs by Andy Walters, 5th June 2025)
