Around the World in Trams: Munich 2116

This week “Around the World in Trams” returns to Germany, this time its Munich that is visited.

Pictured below is no. 2116, a 1995 built AEG R2.2 tram (which was modernised in 2016 to become a AEG R2.2b). 70 of these trams were originally built by Adtranz between 1994 and 1997, of which around 50 have since gone through the modernisation.

On 23rd June 2015 we see the tram in its original condition as its seemingly being raced by a gentlemen on a bicycle close to the photographer! Its just outside the main railway station in the city.
