“Old(er) and New” time again and its Manchester Metrolink which is featured once again.

The older image is again of a T68 and this photo was taken on 8th April 2012. It depicts 1006 which is just descending from the ramp leading to the viaduct which takes the trams out of the city (G-Mex/Deansgate-Castlefield next stop). Manchester Central convention centre (still G-Mex then) on the right and the Bridgewater Hall on the other side of the road on the left. 1006 is the tram which approaches us, this tram would be withdrawn on 30th August 2012 and left for scrapping 13th June 2014.

Jumping forward to 14th March 2025 and whilst 3116 is slightly higher up the ramp this is the same location as we see 3116 coming down towards us with a service to Rochdale. Manchester Central and Bridgewater Hall still bookend the shot but its behind the trams that we see yet more evidence of the major development that has taken place in Manchester with high-rise block after high-rise block now in place.
