NET tram involved in road vehicle collision

Nottingham Express Transit services were suspended on much of the Clifton South line for over five hours on Friday 25th April following a collision between a road vehicle and a tram at Wilford Lane.

This is one of the road crossings on the Clifton South line but is traffic signal controlled so an investigation will be required to see what caused the two vehicles to collide. No injuries were reported although eye witnesses are quoted in various local news sites to say that the tram was derailed in the impact of the collision. The tram appeared to one of the 22 Alstom Citadis trams.

Following the collision NET services were initially suspended from Wilford Lane to Clifton South but this was later amended to no service Wilford Lane to Southchurch Drive.

In a statement Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue confirmed they sent five appliances to the scene from three local fire stations.

Normal services resumed on the network from the start of service the following day.
