Edinburgh Trams reaffirm their commitment to LRSSB safety campaign

Over the past few months we have seen a number of other tram and light rail systems across the UK sign-up to the “Two lines = STOP” safety campaign and now one of those which has been using it since the start have reaffirmed their commitment to improving safety around their network. Edinburgh Trams have given a new warning to anyone around their network about the dangers when crossing the tracks.

As with other systems the campaign includes signage across the network using the “Two lines = STOP” wording. Its seen on board trams, at key tram stops and is also used across their social media channels.

Don McClurg, Safety Manager at Edinburgh Trams, said: “It’s very easy to walk around the city on autopilot when you’re familiar with the area. The dangers increase in the evening even more, particularly for those visiting or on a night out. As a public transport operator, safety has always been our top priority. By engaging with communities near the tramway, we’re making sure everyone plays a part in reducing the risk of potential incidents.”

Research has shown that the biggest threat to pedestrians is blind corners and multiple vehicles. The campaign comes with a warning to anyone wearing headphones to be mindful of your surroundings.
