A trip to… Nottingham

Photos in this article were taken during a trip to Nottingham and show some of the trams in service on the tram system on 5th November 2024. Steven Hughes made the visit and captured trams in fleet livery and advertising liveries, as well as a tram which is now looking a bit of a mess after losing its vinyls.

This is Wilkinson Street, home to the tram depot as well as a large park and ride site on the city ring road. The tram featured is one of the trio of trams which advertises e-on, 214. Its on its way out to Clifton South.

224 heads away from Wilkinson Street and takes the sharp curve to descend down to the level of the Robin Hood line on its way to Hucknall. All the trams were carrying poppies but none so had theirs in such an imaginative position!

Old Market Square will be home to Winter Wonderland again in the lead up to Christmas with set-up well underway. 226 heads away from the stop as it goes to Hucknall.

The Theatre Royal provides the background of this shot as 212 – advert for Carbon Neutral Nottingham 2028 – approaches Old Market Square on its way to Clifton South.

There’s a reason why on some tramways when a tram loses advertising vinyls for one company it soon receives some more and 202 nicely demonstrates that for us here! Having recently had its Consent Coalition vinyls removed the tram is now running in this condition with the section above the destination display still keeping its bright green vinyl.
