In Pictures: A chilly Ride the Lights gets underway at Carlton Colville

Once again weekends in December in the lead up to Christmas will see the East Anglia Transport Museum open their doors for “Ride the Lights”. This will see the museum offering tram, trolleybus and railway rides with special lighting displays also in place to bring festive cheer to all who take the trouble to visit.

The first “Ride the Lights” took place on Saturday 2nd December – with very cold temperatures having hit the UK – and further dates are set to include Sunday 3rd, Saturday 9th, Sunday 10th, Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th December. On each day the museum is due to be open between 1400 and 1800 – allowing the full impact of the lights to take effect.

With Christmas wreath and other decorations on the windows, Blackpool 159 was in service during this brief visit. Its seen here heading down to Chapel Road terminus.

Inside the depot and recent arrival Blackpool 634 is seen. Since arriving at the museum last month, 634 has had its traction circuits tested and moved under its own power for the first time. It has also completed several test runs under full line voltage. (Both Photographs by Bryan Grint, 2nd December 2023)
