There will be a rare chance to enjoy a tram ride through Heaton Park in the post-Christmas period as the tramway will be running on Wednesday 27th December – and as an added attraction there will be a Vintage Fair taking place in the tram depot, operated by So Retro – Vintage Fair.
Winter running on the Heaton Park Tramway in recent years has been in conjunction with the Lightopia event which has been taking place in the park. With that not happening this winter then another excuse was needed for the volunteers on the tramway to run a service and that has come the way of the Vintage Fair!
The Vintage Fair promises stalls selling collectibles, homeware, clothing, vinyl, jewellery and accessories but as exciting as that will be (oh, and there are free mince pies whilst stocks last!) we’re sure the fact that a tram service will be operating between 1200 and 1600 will be of more interest to most who are reading this website!
Normal tram fares will apply and it is planned that it will include at least one open tram – either Stockport 5 or Blackpool 619! Just the trams to brush off those post-Christmas blues!
