Out and About: London Tramlink – July 2023

Throughout this series of “Out and About” one of the modern tramways which has featured on a limited basis has been London Tramlink, but that is where we head today for this latest edition!

East Croydon tramstop is in the background of this photo as Stadler Variobahn 2562 pulls away from the stop with a service to Wimbledon. This is one of 12 trams built by Stadler for Tramlink in two batches between 2011 and 2016, with this particular one arriving in Croydon October 2015.

2539 is one of the original CR4000s built by Bombardier for the opening of the system in 1998/9. With a programme looking at their replacement now in place they aren’t likely to have many more years of service left in them but for now will soldier on operating the majority of services. This photo shows the tram heading to Elmers End.

In this photo we see 2544 on Church Street. This is part of the central Croydon loop and at the time of this photo the tram was working out to Wimbledon.

Although Reeves Corner has tracks in each direction passing through it only has an inbound platform. 2542 calls at that platform with a Wimbledon-Elmers End service. (All Photographs by blackpool_trams, 11th July 2023)
