Heaton Park Tramway get ready for a special Photography Evening

The Heaton Park Tramway may have had their End of Season Gala at the very start of this month but they aren’t done with 2023 just yet! Saturday 21st October will see a photography evening take place with the chance to capture specially set-up line-ups – and this year to celebrate the return to service of Blackpool 619 it will have a “Beside the Seaside” theme!

Starting off at 1830 and running through until 2130, the event will be split into two sections. There will be static photography on the double track section at Middleton Road whilst there will be the chance for nighttime photography and an open top tram ride using Stockport 5 between Middleton Road and Lakeside.

Its planned to use Blackpool 619, Blackpool 623 and (specially prepared for the event) Blackpool Railgrinder 752 on the static display section. 619 and 623 will be moved around to create different scenes with the Railginder and to add further to the scenes Routemaster RM1152 will be visiting, courtesy of Peter Crichton.

Pre-booking is required for the Photography Evening and will cost £15. You can secure your place by visiting https://hptramway.co.uk/civicrm/event/register/?id=51&reset=1.

And if you find yourselves in Manchester during the day, there will also be daytime running in connection with the latest heritage bus service from the Greater Manchester Museum of Transport. Blackpool 623 is due to be running between 1200 and 1600 although because of other events taking place in the park this will only be able to run between Middleton Road and Whitegate only. Normal fares will apply for the daytime running, the museum and shop will be open and there will also be opportunity to see and photography 752 in the workshop ahead of the evening event.
