Heaton Park go Tramtastic again – and its soon!

The Heaton Park Tramway have announced details of their latest special event with Tramtastic returning again – and this year it has returned to a one day event with it being held on Saturday 8th July 2023 so there’s not much time to wait for another action packed day at the tramway which will feature all five operational trams in action including the very first four car service!

Highlights of the day are set to include:

  • A four car service will run (for the first time ever!) with two cars each operating out of Lakeside and Middleton Road Gates. This service will include the rare use of Middleton Road Gates Stub and Middleton Road Centre Crossover. Stockport 5, Hull 96, Blackpool 619 and Manchester 765 are all due to be used on this service.
  • At 1500 there will a five tram Cavalcade featuring the four passenger trams and Blackpool 623. Its hoped that Hull 96 will be operating in and out of the old Lakeside stub as part of the Cavalcade giving more chance for some rare track.
  • An evening service will run between 1700 and 2000 – Manchester 765 is scheduled to run this but that is subject to weather conditions.
  • Tours of Lakeside Depot are due to take place (subject to volunteer availability). Donations will be requested to take part in these.

The service will get underway from 1130 with a photo opportunity at Middleton Road Depot before the service begins. Cavalcade is at 1500 and there will be a short pause in service between 1630 and 1700 ahead of the Evening Service getting underway.

Tramtastic takes place at the Heaton Park Tramway on Saturday 8th July 2023. For up-to-date details of the event please visit the tramway’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/HeatonParkTramway/
