Cornbrook points failure causes Metrolink delays

Manchester Metrolink services were suspended for around half an hour on Wednesday 28th August after a points failure at Cornbrook. Trams on the Altrincham, East Didsbury and Eccles lines were bought to a standstill at 1835 when the points failed at this important junction. Engineers managed to repair the problem within half an hour and trams were able to move through the area again although it took a while for a full service to be reformed.
