Stop by Stop Nottingham Express Transit: Hucknall & Phoenix Park – Hucknall

Our journey to Hucknall comes to an end today as we reach the terminus as part of “Stop by Stop”. (We’ll go back to the Phoenix Park branch in the next edition).

After departing Butler’s Hill we’re back to a single track tramway all the way to Hucknall but as added interest there is a level crossing on the way. We know we’re nearly at Hucknall when a large Tesco Extra comes into view on the left and then its arrival time at the terminus which features two platforms either side of a double track. The right hand platform in the direction of our terminating service provided level access to Hucknall Railway Station, another single platform affair. The stop itself has ticket machines, shelters, bins, passenger information displays, information panels etc.

237 and 232 stand at the two Hucknall platforms. The buffers marking the end of the line are seen here, along with one of the ticket machines. The railway platform is the dark red surface on the left.

At the time of this visit in 2021 there was work being undertaken on the crossing at the city end of the platforms as evidenced by the barriers in the foreground. 216 is standing at the stop ahead of departure to Toton Lane. (Both Photographs by Gareth Prior, 19th September 2021)
