Wallasey 78 to help celebrate 100 years of Wallasey Corporation Transport

Sunday 9th April will see a special event taking place at the Wirral Transport Museum and Heritage Tramway as 100 years of Wallasey Corporation Transport is celebrated. Described as a “once in a lifetime special commemoration event” the day will see every surviving original Wallasey Corporation bus feature while the tram interest will be provided by Wallasey 78.

The event is taking place on Easter Sunday between 1000 and 1600 and while it will be centred at the Wirral Transport Museum and Heritage Tramway some of the days goings on will spread further afield.

Highlights of the day will include:

  • Photo shoot of Wallasey buses and tramcar 78
  • A mass return and photo shoot at the site of the former depot in Seaview Road
  • Re-runs of original Wallasey Corporation routes
  • Buses from the North West Vehicle Restoration Trust and Merseyside Transport Trust in attendance
  • Free entry, free bus rides with no booking required
