Get your 2023 diaries out! Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours have been quick off the mark with first details of their events for the next year with the confirmation of five event weekends and a further day in July for Fleetwood Tram Sunday which will see the return of hop-on hop-off tours along the length of the tramway. And the first is barely six weeks away!
Publicised for 2023 as “Hop-on Hop-off Tour Weekends” the once Gold weekend or event weekends will be taking place as follows:
- 18th to 19th February
- 29th April to 1st May
- 27th to 29th May
- 16th July
- 26th to 28th August
- 23rd to 24th September
This marks a return to the enhanced heritage service running on the Bank Holiday weekends either end of May as well as a Winter outing in February (which saw snow in 2022!) as well as Fleetwood Tram Sunday day in July, August Bank Holiday and the traditional September weekend just before the tramway’s anniversary.
After having seen increases in each of the last few years, the good news is that ticket prices remain unchanged for 2023 which means that for £18 adults can get a heritage day ticket (£9 for children) with Promenade Tours costing £6 (£3 children) and Coastal Tours £8 (£4 children).
The timetable for the first enhanced weekend has already been released and looks as if it will be similar to that used in 2022, including the two trams at Fleetwood at the end of the day. Once more six lettered trams will be allocated to service on each day of this timetable – as always details of those trams will be released closer to the date.
Away from the event weekends and it will be a similar pattern of regular Promenade and Coastal Tours running. These will resume from Saturday 7th January and then run every Saturday until 11th February before they continue through the rest of the year. There will also be the introduction of Mini Prom Tours which run between North Pier/Tower and Pleasure Beach (due to run weekends in July and daily during August).
And don’t forget tours of Rigby Road Depot “Tramtown” will also be taking place every Monday and Saturday throughout the year as well as daily during the October half-term holiday.
