And we continue with our attempts to make the number 20 out of tram numbers and today we could have featured two different trams from the same place but settle on the one which resides at Beamish.
Tram: Sheffield 264
Built: 1907
Qualification for series: 6+4 x 2 = 20
One of the quirks of tramcar preservation is that there are two number 264s which ran in Sheffield which have survived – one at Crich and the other at Beamish. It’s the Beamish one which we include today (mainly because we’re trying to feature as many locations as possible in this series) which was built in 1907. This tram was renumbered 342 during its operating career in the South Yorkshire city but has been preserved with its original number and enjoyed a restoration completed in 2016. This image was taken on 9th April 2016 and shows the tram working the museum tramway circuit. (Photograph by Gareth Prior)
