In Pictures: Blackpool 167 enters service at Crich

The variety of trams available for service at the Crich Tramway Village continues to increase with Blackpool 167 the latest to be used for the first time in 2024. The Pantograph car entered service on Thursday 2nd May when it was part of the standard three car service offered as part of a visit to Crich.

167 is another tram which did run during 2023 but it hasn’t only received the usual commissioning work in the workshop as it has had its paintwork tidied up to make it look as good as new once again. The tram retains its familiar wartime green and cream fleet livery style.

Also in service on its first day in use were Glasgow 22 and Blackpool 40 whilst Blackpool 630 was out on driver training (training drivers on using air-braked trams) in the morning. Into the afternoon and 167 and 630 swapped places.

Another look at 167 on the spare track at Town End as Glasgow 22 loads passengers for another trip to Glory Mine.

Continuing the Blackpool theme of the day, Standard 40 was also in service on 2nd May. Still looking immaculate following its recent repaint, 40 is pictured at Stephenson Place.

Blackpool single deckers 167 and 630 – both of which have received paintwork attention in recent months and are now looking resplendent as a result – pose for the camera at Town End.

One last look at the magnificent 167, this time at Wakebridge whilst employed on driver training duties. Brush car 630 is close behind whilst Glasgow 22 can just be seen heading up the line. (All Photographs by Peter Whiteley, 2nd May 2024)
