Stop by Stop Blackpool Tramway: Rossall Square

In this edition of “Stop by Stop” we come to the final of the trio of stops with Rossall in their name – its Rossall Square.

The tram departs from Rossall School and soon passes over Rossall Lane and then immediately on the right is the location of the former stop pre-upgrade. The line then deviates from Broadway as it makes its way between houses on both sides of the track and there is then another road crossing at South Strand with limited sightlines for trams in the cramped alignment. And then after South Strand is crossed its time to stop at Rossall Square which is another stop which has been squeezed into the space available. There are platforms either side of the tracks but no space for shelters with just lighting and limited information panels provided.

Showing how tight the space is at Rossall Square this is the standard view of the stop taken from the other side of South Strand. Its very handy if you live in the houses either side of the stop though!

010 slows to cross South Strand as it approaches Rossall Square from the south.

Looking in the other direction and 010 is joined by 008 which is approaching the stop on its way to Starr Gate. (All Photographs by Gareth Prior, 25th September 2020)
