Man taken to hospital after being hit by tram at Little Bispham

A man in his 60s was taken to hospital on Thursday 25th November after being hit by a tram on the Blackpool Tramway at Little Bispham. The incident occurred at around 1820 with tram services being suspended until approximately 2200 whilst the emergency services were on the scene.

In a statement Blackpool Transport said: “There was a serious incident on the tramway at Little Bispham last night in which a tram collided with a pedestrian at the Fleetwood Road crossing. This resulted in the pedestrian suffering significant injuries. A full investigation is now underway led by the Rail Accident Investigation Branch and Office of Rail and Road. Blackpool Transport is fully cooperating with the inquiry.”

The man suffered a serious head injury and was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital after receiving first aid from a member of the public on the scene.
