In Pictures: Reserved area for conductors on Supertram reduced

Last year as one of the measures to help reduce the spread of Coronavirus and to provide on-board conductors to have an area away from passengers one end of the trams on the Stagecoach Supertram network was cordoned off to passengers. But now with extra passengers being carried on the network this area has been reduced with just one set of four seats reserved.

Initially it had been two sets of four seats – so eight in total – directly behind one of the driver’s cabs which was set-a-side as a safe refuse for conductors but to create additional space for passengers on board the trams – and allow for extra social distancing if possible – this has been halved from mid-September.

The newly reduced cordoned off area is seen here with a notice and netting provided to remind passengers. (Photograph by Stuart Cooke, 16th September 2021)
