Summer Tramlink engineering works

This article has been updated since original publication.

School summer holidays usually means one thing for London Tramlink – engineering works! And so it is the case again in 2021 with no service through central Croydon to allow for rail replacement works. The closure began on Monday 16th August and will continue through until Friday 27th August.

During this period there will no trams running between Wandle Park and East Croydon. The following services will run:

  • Wimbledon to Wandle Park
  • East Croydon to Beckenham Junction
  • East Croydon to Elmers End (peak hours only)
  • East Croydon to New Addington

There will also be buses running from Waddon Marsh to East Croydon.

Work which will be undertaken includes the replacement of 180 metres of track at Reeves Corner, resurfacing work, attention to town centre platforms and drains cleared in Dingwall Road.

A further closure will follow over the Bank Holiday weekend (28th-30th August) with work on Addiscombe Road bridge taking place. This will see trams only running from Wimbledon to Wandle Park.

A full service resumes on 1st September.
