Extra Metro services for the Great North Run

The Great North Run is back for 2021 and the Tyne and Metro is once again going to be the best way to see the race with extra trains due to be running until early evening on Sunday 12th September. Trains will run every three minutes through the centre of Newcastle to get people to the start of the run and home afterwards or link with key park and ride locations.

Nexus are encouraging people to pre-purchase tickets in advance with a Great North Run wristband the best option which can be purchased at http://sales.nexus.org.uk (until 0900 Monday 6th September).

Huw Lewis, Customer Services Director for Nexus, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming Great North Run participants and spectators back to metro for this year’s event. It is a different route this year, but Metro is perfectly placed to support the Run with stations in Newcastle city centre and around the Town Moor linking with our whole region.  With wrist band tickets available in advance and PaybyPhone parking at our major car parks we’re making it easy to enjoy the Great North Run by Metro.  We will be operating extra trains throughout the day and have extra teams and volunteers across our stations to look after customers.”
