Metrolink 3129 arrives

The latest new Manchester Metrolink M5000 has arrived with 3129 being delivered to Queen’s Road Depot on Saturday 7th August. This is the ninth of 27 trams in this batch of M5000s being built by Bombardier at their plant in Bautzen, Germany.

3129 once again arrived in the standard lunchtime delivery slot having made the journey across mainland Europe and then via sea to Hull before a final road trip across England to Manchester. As with all deliveries although featuring an external number it has yet to earn its spots and other livery detail with these due to follow as part of the commissioning process.

3129 now joins 3127 and 3128 in being commissioned with neither of the previous two arrivals having yet been confirmed as being in service. The last new tram to enter service was 3126 which was spotted in action on 13th July 2021.

3128 entered service on Monday 9th August. Its been on the Rochdale service today 11th August paired with 3065. I have no news regarding 3127’s status but I would imagine it is fair to assume it has also joined the operational fleet.
