Drone footage released of Trams to Newhaven project construction progress

The Trams to Newhaven project – which will see trams running beyond the current Edinburgh Trams city centre terminus at York Place to Newhaven via Leith Walk and Ocean Terminal – has continued to make excellent progress throughout the spring months (although Covid has caused some delays to the original schedule). To show this progress a new video has been released showing drone footage of the construction underway.

Taken in April 2021 the footage shows the route of the tramway from Newhaven and carries on for most of the extension although ends slightly short of the end mainly because there hasn’t been any work in any section beyond McDonald Road.

Key areas of construction are included with utility diversions, track installation on Leith Walk and Constitution Street and two of the new tram stops under construction.

And with the footage having been recorded in April there has been even more progress since including significant track laying on Ocean Way at Stevedore Place.
