In Pictures: 001 back in service in Blackpool

With the Blackpool Tramway continuing to run at a reduced frequency – a frequency which will presumably increase as we enter the summer and the expected continued easing of restrictions – the full fleet of 18 Flexity2 trams has not been required which has led to a number of trams not having been used for some time (the most significant of these being 004 and 007 which have been missing for many months). One of the trams which had been missing for a while is 001 but that returned to action during mid-April, still carrying its advert for the various Merlin run attractions in Blackpool.

001 is seen here climbing the hill between Gynn Square and Cliffs Hotel on its way to Fleetwood Ferry. (Photograph by Tony Armitage, 2nd May 2021)

  1. Michael Morton says:

001 was only out of service for a short period to gain a new pantograph and has certainly run in January & March 2021.
007 (Alan Whitbread) was definitely back in service at the beginning of May 2021 operating the full length service on Monday 3rd May 2021.
