Lockdown Walks: Edinburgh Trams 275

Today’s “Lockdown Walk” is out in Edinburgh City Centre again as we take a look at the current very end of the line.

The stop at York Place will be the first stop on Edinburgh Trams to close when in 2023 the line through to Newhaven opens (presumably it will have to close ahead of the start of services to allow the tracks to be joined up) but it will be replaced by one just round the corner at Picardy Place so there will still be good access to this area of Edinburgh to any travellers.

This image shows 275 at York Place about to depart for the Airport (the line heads off to the right). The tram has a long-standing advert for Scottish Rugby. Of course, the tramway serves the home of Scottish Rugby (opened 1925) at Murrayfield Stadium which is just five stops away from York Place. (Photograph by Roy Calderwood, 8th March 2021)
