Overhead woes spread to Nottingham

Services on Nottingham Express Transit between Wilkinson Street and Hucknall/Phoenix Park were severely disrupted on Friday 18th December after a fault with the overhead wires was discovered. The first reports of the issue were released at around 1500 with ticket acceptance on other forms of transport soon in place.

The exact issue with the overhead is unknown but upon its discovery all trams between Wilkinson Street and both Hucknall and Phoenix Park were suspended. After an initial investigation a shuttle tram service was initiated between Bulwell Forest and Hucknall but there were still no trams on the Phoenix Park branch or between Wilkinson Street and Bulwell Forest.

Nottingham City Transport brown, yellow, turquoise and orange line buses were accepting tram tickets as were East Midlands Railway services between Nottingham and Hucknall.

A full service resumed from 1930 after repairs were completed.
