New ticket range to be launched on West Midlands Metro

With people likely to be travelling in different ways over, at least, the next few months, the West Midlands Metro have announced that they will be launching a range of new tickets on the My Metro App including the Flex & Save ticket which will give ten separate day tickets for £48 (and they won’t have to be used on consecutive days either).

The £6 day ticket will still be available and it will be joined by a three day ticket for £15 and a four day version at £19.20. The previously mentioned Flex & Save ticket will also be launched with ten separate day tickets available for just £48 – this ticket will offer savings of up to 20% when compared to individual day tickets and will also offer convenience as the ten tickets can be used at any point over a six month period.

Carl Williams, Metro Director of Operations, said: “While the advice to try and avoid public transport remains in place, many people are now returning to work and like many key workers they may have no other option than travelling by tram. However, as we enter the next phase of the pandemic, we recognise that they may not be using the Metro in the same way as they did before. Research shows that up to 75 per cent of people across the region who’ve been working from home intend to carry on doing so at least a couple of days a week. In response we’ve extended our value-for-money season ticket options to provide extra flexibility and, by using the app to pay for travel in advance, customers can also help to reduce the risk of spreading the virus as there’s no need for cash transactions on board the tram.”

These tickets will be exclusively available through the My Metro App with the advice being to try and purchase tickets this way instead of having to deal with the on-board conductors to reduce contact on board.
