In Pictures: More trams at Crich

Although no specific special event was taking place at the Crich Tramway Village on Saturday 4th August there was still a good number of visitors with an almost full car park viewed during the afternoon. A standard three tram service was in operation with Blackpool 236, London United Tramways 159 and Sheffield 74 all in action and all three feature in the article below.

Before we start with the trams in service we take a look inside the Workshop where the usual three can be seen. London County Council 1 is now back on the road 3 following the completion of the work needed on its roof and further glazing now also appears to have been put into the windows. Newcastle 102 and London Transport 1622 are also present with the former’s trucks now having returned from shot blasting with a move for crack testing to follow soon.

With sunny weather Blackpool 236 was one of three trams in service. We see the tram here at Stephenson Place.

The Access Tram Berlin 223 006-4 was also out.

Sheffield 74 arrives at Glory Mine.

The trolley is turned on Sheffield 74.

Glasgow 812 was shunted around the depot yard heading to road 1 for a wash. This tram is currently out of service but that's no excuse not to look your best!

London United Tramways 159 was the third tram in service and we catch up with it as it approaches Town End ready for loading.

A top deck view of 159 with the tram having arrived back at Stephenson Place.

A sight to gladden anyone with an interest in trams (unless you happen to be wanting a ride of course!) a queue waiting to board 159. (All Photographs by Trevor Hall, 3rd August 2019)
