In Preview: May Day Bank Holiday tram allocations revealed in Blackpool

It may only seem like a couple of weeks since we last had a Bank Holiday weekend – possibly because it was! – but this weekend once again sees a Gold timetable running on Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours with the usual six tram service in operation – plus an added bonus of the Western Train on Saturday 4th May.

Whereas the Easter weekend saw record breaking high temperatures it looks as if the May Bank Holiday won’t be anywhere near as lucky although it should still be mainly dry which means a good selection of trams are currently allocated to service with seven different classes of tram represented over the three days – Standard, Boat, Brush, Centenary, Ex-Towing Railcoach, Balloon and Illuminated!

The Western Train will be allocated to a special service on Saturday 4th May only with two afternoon round trips from Pleasure Beach to Little Bispham and back. The first of these will leave Pleasure Beach at 1420 and will be back an hour later with the second journey leaving Pleasure Beach at 1530 (again back an hour later). This is in addition to the standard Gold timetable which will be running on three days and Heritage tickets remain valid for this trip – the best value of which remains the Heritage Day Travelcard at just £11 (adults) for unlimited travel on all Blackpool trams and buses.

The other trams due to be allocated to service are as follows:

Saturday 4th May

A – Balloon 718

B – Brush 631

C – Boat 600

D – Balloon 701

E – Standard 147

F – Boat 227

Sunday 5th May

A – Balloon 723

B – Centenary 648

C – Boat 227

D – Balloon 717

E – Balloon 719

F – Boat 600

Monday 6th May

A – Balloon 713

B – Brush 621

C – Boat 600

D – Railcoach 680

E – Standard 147

F – Boat 227

All trams will run subject to availability and weather with the latest updates available on Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours social media if any changes are necessary. All trams are scheduled to run at least one trip to Fleetwood with trams A and D timetabled for two.
