September Review – Isle of Man: No.10 – Winter Saloons in action

They have been the mainstay of the Manx Electric Railway ever since they were delivered in 1899 and the chances are that if you visit the line on a normal day it will be dominated by this class of motor. This article takes a look at some of these workhorses in action during events week.

Treated to a repaint for 2018 into the 1970s livery style 20 is seen here at Laxey wither trailer 61 for company on 6th September.

We see 20 again in this photo as it approaches Laxey Station from the north. This time it is partnered with 43.

A scene you will often see, the coupling of motor and trailer during a run-round manoeuvre. This is Derby Castle with 22 and trailer 60. (All Photographs by Gareth Prior)
