Purple Tram Fridays return at Crich

Your (almost) guaranteed chance to ride on Blackpool Jubilee 762 at Crich Tramway Village is back for 2018 with the next three Fridays in August seeing the tram in action, subject to the usual availability caveats. Popular with children thanks to its Nickelodeon Land advert from its days in Blackpool and with some enthusiasts the allocating of the tram to service on certain days was trialled in 2017 and it will now happen again!

762 will run on Fridays 10th, 17th and 24th August and should be one of three trams in service as per the standard operating pattern at Crich. The most modern of the passenger fleet at Crich it has proven to be divisive amongst enthusiasts but it should be remembered that it is a crucial part of the history of the tram in Britain, helping to secure the future of the Blackpool Tramway so that it could reach its upgrade of a few years ago.

The tram was the second of two Jubilee Cars converted from Balloon Cars in Blackpool and is currently the only one which is operational. The other, 761, is now part of the Heritage Tram fleet in Blackpool but requires workshop attention before it can run in service again.
