Picture in Time: South Yorkshire Supertram 13

In this outing for Picture in Time we take a look at the South Yorkshire Supertram operation with a view taken in the early days of the system.

The tram we are looking at here is 13 – now numbered 113 in the current Stagecoach Supertram fleet – which is at a much less developed Middlewood than we are used to today. It is working on the Yellow route and as the signs in the cab and side windows show passengers were able to travel free on this day. The date is 25th October 1995 which was two days after the line to Middlewood (and Malin Bridge) had opened to the public – the final piece of the Supertram network to open, until that is the tram-train service starts operation.
