Picture in Time: Manx Electric Railway – Derby Castle

The Isle of Man is the location for our archive photo as part of Picture in Time today as we find ourselves at Derby Castle, Douglas in 1993.

We are greeted with a busy scene at the Manx Electric Railway terminus with three car sets in evidence on 7th September 1993. In the foreground Winter Saloon 20 and trailer waiting to move forward to the loading stop which is currently occupied by Tunnel Car 7 (presumably with trailer attached although not visible). The Tunnel Car – as all cars are in the photo – is in standard fleet livery a much changed picture from today when it is in the attractive Blue and White colours. The view is completed by Winter Saloon 22 (again if a trailer is present it isn’t visible from this angle) which is situated on the Groudle siding.
