Picture in Time: Croydon Tramlink 2548

Our next trip into the archives finds us in 2000 for a view of Croydon Tramlink CR4000 2548 on the opening day of the line to Beckenham Junction.

This photo was taken on 23rd May 2000 and is at the Beckenham Junction terminus with 2548 sitting in the non-roadside platform. 2548 was the tram which started off services on the Beckenham Junction line running both a special for invited guests to Crodyon and back following a short ceremony and then the first public service at 1202. This view shows the tram carrying the then standard Red and White livery with gold fleet numbers with roller destination blinds in place. Today 2548 remains part of the operational fleet but can now be found in the new house colours of Lime Green, Blue and White.

  1. Geoff, Isle of Man says:

I still consider that original livery to be far preferable to the current version.
