get me there takes off

Travellers in Greater Manchester are really getting behind the get me there mobile ticketing app according to figures released this week. More than 20,000 tickets have been sold through the app for Metrolink since it was launched in November 2015 with almost half of these in the last few weeks. Weekly ticket sales have now reached an average of over 2,500 with adult Metrolink 7 day ticket the most popular.

Cllr Andrew Fender, Chair of the TfGM Committee, said: “It’s great to see get me there taking off and we’re pleased that more customers than we expected are taking advantages of the benefits of smart travel so soon after launch. The get me there app for Metrolink now provides customers with a flexible digital travel option that now covers 99 per cent of all adult tram ticket sales. People are clearly welcoming the option to buy their tickets before they even get to their tram stop – from the comfort of their own home and with no need to queue at ticket machines. We will be encouraging even more customers to jump on board with marketing campaigns over the spring. Looking to the future, we’re committed to exploring the most up-to-date technologies for contactless payments. We’ll be working with regional partners to make sure our plans for Greater Manchester fit in with those for the North as a whole.”
