New name for NET 222

Nottingham Express Transit Citadis 222 has become the first tram from the city to receive a second name following the application of the name Barbara White OBE in a special ceremony on the 12th anniversary of the tramway. Barbara is the founder of Nottingham based charity When You Wish Upon A Star.

222 had only been named Sam and Amy back in October 2015 but this was a short lived name as part of a joint promotion between NET and local radio station Gem106.

Barbara’s name will stay on 222 for the next 12 months having been named as the first annual NET Community Hero – an award planned to mark the work of a local community stalwart.

Barbara set up When You Wish Upon A Star in 1990 to help grant the wishes of children with life threatening illnesses. The charity has helped grant over 16,500 wishes across the UK.

Two trams are still to receive a name with both 225 and 231 currently running sans names but they are both expected to be honoured with names in the coming months.
